Well, it’s called the countryside….

We submitted a request for a new VAT registration this month. What is the client doing?


HMRC reply: “Please supply additional information about your main business activity and describe the nature of the supplies you are making.”

Tempted to reply: “Well, sir, it is something that happens in the countryside and usually involves fields and growing things and sometimes animals and always muck and plenty of weather. Most farmers do a bit of this and a bit of that, whatever makes money”

Except it will probably wind them up.

Should I worry about the lack of rural knowledge at the Revenue?
